The company SIEMENS focuses on the Leading Edge Consumer, so we collect data through surveys, interviews and user research according to their household, behavior and desires in waste management.

CIRCULARIS is a holistic product-service-system that makes recycling of kitchen waste most comfortable for the user, most economic for the waste management company and most sustainable for the environment.
CIRCULARIS - REDUCE. REUSE. RECYCLE. RETHINK.

The system includes a physical product, the recycler, an app and artificial intelligence being the brain of the system and the service (through recycling company). Those thins make efficient material sorting and waste reduction most comfortable for its user. Due to color coded bags, further processing of the waste-materials is very resource-friendly. CIRCULARIS raises awareness for sustainable behavior and lifestyle. It strengthen the user’s „Better-Me“ mind-set, knowing that his materials will be recycled and reused without any effort.

Think Global.
The system can easily applied to many countries and revolutionize the way resources of our world get treated.

Think public.
Great value can be achieved in public spaces, weather indoor and outdoor, where people are rushing by, dropping off their to-go packaging.
Ideation

Automated recycling.
The goal was to create a smart recycling device, that recognizes, separates and compresses the most common packaging material. A technical solution for such a product was developed by elaborating a low-fidelity prototype. This prototype also helped to determine possible features, dimensions and solutions of the product. Under discussion with an engineering expert our ideas were approved to be feasible.
Laris, the brain behind CIRCULARIS.
As the UX and UI Designer I developed the concept for making the recycling Unit smart. Through Computer Vision and Machine Learning Laris become smarter and smarter and learns seamlessly from its user. It helps the user, through the app, to make better decisions according to consumption and gives him the opportunity to track his carbon footprint and to improve it over time.
